Large Shoulder Plane

Large Shoulder Plane Review

Large Shoulder Plane Feature

  • 8¼" long, with a 1¼" x .140" thick blade
  • Body is cast from Ductile Iron, the lever cap is Bronze
  • Captive-nut blade adjustment
  • Adjustable mouth and locking screws are large and convenient
  • Mouth adjustment screw is captured in the toe piece and threaded into the body
This all-metal Shoulder Plane is based on the Record 073, which in turn was based on a Preston model. The body is precisely ground flat and square - an essential feature for a shoulder plane. The blade is .005" wider than the body, bedded at 18 degrees with a 25 degree bevel. This is a large tool, but the size gives excellent control even on relatively small work.
